Campaign # N140350 Was informed about this recall and called the number given to me by Pontiac (South County Buick GMC 2202 National City Blvd. National City CA 91950, (619) 477-4462) but all I got was endless automated messages. The one real person I talked to was rude and sounded like she was about to quit her job and gave me a number to call which was the same as the one I started with! This defect is putting my family at risk and the type of non-service I am receiving from Pontiac is truly a disgrace! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 PONTIAC GRAND AM. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE AS THE TRANSMISSION MADE AN ABNORMALLY LOUD SOUND. THE CONTACT PULLED INTO A FUEL STATION, RAISED THE HOOD, AND OBSERVED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE CONTACT WAITED A WHILE AND THEN DROVE HOME WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS A MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE, BUT NO FAILURE CODE WAS FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I PULLED UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF. I TRIED TO START IT SEVERAL TIMES BUT ALL I GOT WAS A CLICK. THE IGNITION ISN'T CATCHING.
FUEL SYSTEM RECALL , STRONG GAS SMELL INSIDE CAR EXTERIOR LIGHTING RECALL, HARD TO SEE WHILE DRIVING CAR AT NIGHT ELETRICAL SYTEM IGNITION RECALL POWER CUTS ON AND OFF
VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN AS IT DID DURING RECALL. THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED IT. I THEN BOUGHT IT FROM PREVIOUS OWNER WHO DID NOT MENTION THE PROBLEM AS BEING ON A RECALL. WE FOUND OUT BUT DEALER SAYS IT WAS REPAIRED. OBVIOUSLY THE FIX DID NOT WORK AS VEHICLE STILL SHUTS DOWN AND SAYS AIRBAG WARNING. WHAT RECOURSE DO WE HAVE WHEN THEY SAY IT WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED BUT WASN'T.
I GOT A RECALL OF UNINTENDED IGNITION KEY ROTATION. I TOOK IT IN TO GM AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. THEY SAID IT IS FOR THE ORIGINAL KEYS , WHICH I HAVE. BUT MY PLASTIC ON ONE KEY IS BROKE ON ONE SPOT. I TOLD THEM MY IGNITION IS MESSED UP. THE KEY CAN BE PULLED OUT WITH THE CAR STILL RUNNING AND SOME TIMES IT WILL BE TURNED OFF AND KEYS IN MY HAND AND YET IT IS STILL ON. NO ONE EXPLAINED ANYTHING TO ME, EXCEPT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME, THAT IS WAS JUST A PLASTIC PIECE THAT THEY PUT ON THE KEY IN THE HOLE WHERE THE KEY RING GOES. YET I STILL KEEP GETTING THE RECALL IN THE MAIL. WHAT EXACTLY IS THE RECALL?

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WALDORF CHEVROLET CADILLAC (2298 CRAIN HWY, WALDORF, MD 20601, (301) 645-7000), BUT THEY REFUSED TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR BECAUSE THE RUBBER COVERING ON THE KEY WAS FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 231,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 162,000. **TR CONSUMER STATED CAR FAILED TO START ON MANY OCCASIONS. ONLINE COMPLAINTS INCLUDE NOT STARTING POSSIBLE IGNITION SHUT DOWN WRITE OPERATING CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (DURAND CHEVROLET, 223 WASHINGTON ST, HUDSON, MA 01749, 978-310-1243) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MY CAR STALLS OUT FROM TIME TO TIME BECAUSE OF THE IGNITION SWITCH I TOOK IT TO GMC THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T HELP ME BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THE ORIGINAL KEY
EVERY YEAR THAT WE FIX THE INTAKE VALVE ON THE CAR NOT EVEN A MONTH LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME BACK ON AND IT WILL BE THE SAME INTAKE VALVE. THIS CLOGS ALL THE VALVES IN THE SYSTEM CAUSING THE CAR TO SOMETIMES IT'S SLOW OR CUT OFF. CAR WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS EVEN AFTER YOU FIX THIS ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THIS ISSUE AND THEY STATE THAT IT'S NOT AN ISSUE. ALSO THE BLINKERS WILL STOP WORKING YOU HAVE TO HIT THE HAZARDOUS BLINKERS FOR THE BLINKERS TO START WORKING AGAIN THIS COULD CAUSE A REAR-END ACCIDENT I ALSO TOLD THE MANUFACTURER ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY ARE NOT WANTING TO FIX IT.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 GRAND AM AND I WAS SITTING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON AN HWY AND IT WAS HOT OUTSIDE THAT DAY AND WHEN I LET MY FEET OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL MY CAR START TO ACCELERATE BY ITS SELF VERY FAST AND I IMMEDIATELY PRESS MY BREAK TO THE FLOOR AND MY ANTI-LOCK BREAKS KICKED IN AND THE CAR CONTINUED SKID AND ACCELERATE FAST AND I HAD PUT MY CARS TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND THE MOTOR CONTINUED TO REV EVEN AFTER MY TRANSMISSION WAS IN NERAL. I ENDED UP SKIDDING UP A SIDE WALK TO AVOID A SERIOUS CRASH OR BEING KILLED IN A BAD CRASH. I BELIEVE IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL ACCELERATOR PEDAL.
SECURITY LIGHT FLUSHED 2 DAYS AGO, AND WHEN I TURNED THE CAR ENGINE OFF THE CAR WOULD NOT CRANK OR START. TOOK THE BATTERY TO BE CHARGED, AND IT STILL WOULD NOT CRANK OR START. I SPENT ALL NIGHT ON THE INTERNET TO FIND THAT THE PONTIAC GRAND AM'S FROM 1999 - 2005 CAN HAVE SECURITY PASSLOCK ISSUES THAT CAUSE THE CAR NOT TO CRANK OR START. WITH THE KEY TURNED ON THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND THE WINDOWS WILL GO UP AND DOWN, BUT YOU CAN'T CRANK THE CAR. I FOUND A PROCEDURE THAT WILL TEMPORARILY BYPASS THE SECURITY PASSLOCK, WHICH INVOLVE FOLLOWING THE SEQUENCE OF TURNING THE KEY TO ON POSITION WAIT 10 - 12 MIN. TURN CAR TO OFF (HOPEFULLY THE SECURITY LIGHT IN DISPLAY WILL GO OFF COMPLETELY) THEN TURN THE KEY TO START. THAT WORK FOR ME, BUT THE SECURITY LIGHT DISPLAY IN THE DASH PANEL DID NOT GO OFF. I HAVE TO HOPE THAT I WILL LATER BE ABLE TO CRANK THE CAR UP AGAIN. I THINK THIS IS RIDICULOUS, AND DANGEROUS. YOU COULD BE SOMEWHERE FAR AWAY FROM OTHERS AND STRANDED. THUS YOU COULD BE IN POTENTIAL DANGEROUS FROM THE ELEMENTS OR ENVIRONMENT OR COULD BECOME A VICTIM OF VIOLENCE IF THE RIGHT PERSON(S) APPROACH YOU WHEN YOU ARE STRANDED.

THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND CAUSED THE DRIVER TO CRASH INTO A SNOWPLOW. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED. THE DRIVER DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V400000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
